SAFE BLASTING

Our stringent safety standards are emphasised

throughout our operations, no less in CMS Quarries Sdn

Bhd where we make sure that all blasting methods are

performed in compliance with the correct procedures. All

blasting operations that were carried out in 2016 were

reportedly without incident.

Blasting operations require at least six workers, they

include the Production & Maintenance Engineer, Quarry

Supervisor, Chief Blaster, Mining Supervisor and Drillers.

1.

A safety briefing is delivered

before blasting to ensure it is carried

out safely

7.

Once the certified short-firer is

satisfied that all shots have been fired,

five minutes is given to allow fumes

to clear

6.

The certified short-firer instructs the

explosive to be detonated

2.

The quarry supervisor or another

authorised person informs all

employees of the date and time

of the blasting

8.

One continuous long siren indicates

the completion of the blasting

5.

Quarry supervisor and other

authorised personal check that all

personnel are at least 100 metres

from the quarry face

3.

Blasting notices and red flags are

posted at the guard house at the

entrance of the quarry and at the

quarry pit to warn of blasting

9.

All workmen are not allowed to

approach the quarry until the ‘all clear’

signal has been sounded

4.

Once the holes have been charged

with explosives, the blaster

sounds the siren six times before

blasting commences

our operations as it helps us to gauge the performance of

our subsidiary companies while providing us with insight

to consumer trends. Each of our subsidiaries carries out

their own customer survey from which all responses

received, both positive and negative, are fully reviewed

and analysed.

CMS Premix Sdn Bhd’s annual survey results for 2016

revealed a slight drop of 7.1% in customer satisfaction

from 100% to 92.9% thus breaking a three-year streak of
